Gen Proofreads : Terms and Conditions

Use of Gen Proofreads and employment of the services therein is an acceptance of the terms and conditions as specified below.

Privacy Policy

Gen Proofreads takes your privacy seriously. We will not disclose to any third party identifying personal information about customers or their work, in part or in whole, unless required by law.

All documents submitted to Gen Proofreads remain the intellectual property of the original author, who reserves all rights granted by applicable copyright laws. Gen Proofreads will never reproduce or share, in part or in whole, any document submitted to Gen Proofreads without the written consent of its original author.

To further ensure privacy, all documents submitted to Gen Proofreads will be destroyed 30 days after being returned to the customer.

Content of Submissions

Gen Proofreads accepts no liability for content found within customer documents, including, but not limited to, inaccurate or misleading statements, defamatory remarks, or infringements of copyright law.

Gen Proofreads will not tolerate plagiarism or copyright infringement under any circumstances. Gen Proofreads reserves the right to refuse or terminate service on documents found to have plagiarized or copyrighted material. Should a customer choose to submit a document that contains plagiarized or copyrighted material, they forfeit any payment already made with that submission.

Customers of Gen Proofreads are prohibited from submitting virus-infected, threatening, libelous, pornographic, or obscene material.

Customers agree to review all changes made to their submissions by Gen Proofreads. This agreement acknowledges that Gen Proofreads is not liable for any content found within the documents.

Quality of Service

Gen Proofreads strives to provide complete satisfaction to its customers. All submissions are carefully and thoroughly serviced. We cannot, however, guarantee that documents are error-free.

Customers are required to review the documents upon completion of services and contact Gen Proofreads should any problems arise. Gen Proofreads is not obligated to refund payment if a customer is not completely satisfied. We request that you contact us, and we will work with you to fix the situation.

Gen Proofreads is not liable for damages of any kind, including, but not limited to, lost revenues or profits, lost business, or lost data. This applies to any claim, loss, or injury arising from mistakes, omissions, or inaccuracies that may appear on here or within a customer’s edited document.

Minimum Turnaround Time

For documents fewer than 15,000 words, customers must allow at least 48 hours for their work to be returned to them.

For documents between 15,000 and 30,000 words, customers must allow one full week for their work to be returned to them.

For book-length projects, turnaround time will be determined on a per-client basis. Please contact Gen to discuss your specific project.

Deposit

For each submitted project, Gen Proofreads must receive your deposit before service can begin, and the total fee before work will be returned. For projects of less than $50, the total fee must be received at time of submission. For projects of $50 or more, a 50% deposit is required, with the remainder due once the work is finished. First-time customers may request to view a sample edit of up to 300 words or one standard page.

Unforeseen Technical Problems

Gen Proofreads is not liable for unforeseen technical problems beyond our control that may result in delays of service.

Should damages in computer hardware or software arise from the spread of a computer virus through this website, Gen Proofreads is hereby not liable.

Refusal or Termination of Service

Gen Proofreads reserves the right to refuse service to any customer for any reason and without explanation.

Gen Proofreads reserves the right to terminate service in the event that a customer violates any of the terms and conditions contained herein.

Upon Gen Proofread’s receipt of payment, a contract between the customer and Gen Proofreads begins. Receipt of payment is confirmation that the customer consents for the work to begin.

The customer is responsible for choosing the level of service at time of submission. For questions concerning the difference between proofreading and copy editing, please see Services and Rates above.

Customers must submit an accurate word count at time of submission. (If using Microsoft Word, select Tools and then select Word Count; this is the number that must be shared at time of submission.) Gen Proofreads reserves the right to refuse service should the word count be inaccurate at more than a margin of one percent.

Customer Identification

Customers are responsible for providing accurate information at time of submission. Failure to do so may result in incomplete or interrupted service. Gen Proofreads accepts no liability for any problems resulting from incorrect identifying information.

Gen Proofreads takes every reasonable precaution to keep customer information private and secure. Gen Proofreads takes your privacy seriously. We will not disclose to any third party identifying personal information about customers or their work, in part or in whole, unless required by law.

Financial Fraud

Gen Proofreads is not liable or responsible for fraudulent methods of payment, including, but not limited to, credit cards used for payment of services.

Indemnification

The customer agrees to not hold Gen Proofreads or anyone associated with Gen Proofreads responsible for any claims, demands, or attorney fees. Should the customer violate the terms and conditions contained herein, Gen Proofreads accepts no responsibility.

Jurisdiction

The laws of Nebraska in the United States of America govern Gen Proofreads. The customer, by accepting these terms and conditions, agrees to submit to the jurisdiction of the courts in this state.

Copyright and Ownership

Gen Proofreads requests that you contact us before linking to this website or advertising our services.

The customer may use this website and its content for personal use only.

All content on this website is protected by international copyright and trademark law. Without express permission of Gen Proofreads, the reproduction, transmission, or modification of website content is hereby prohibited.
